Limassol Wine Festival – Great fun for all the family!

Held every year on the last week in August and first week in September, the festival celebrates the history of wine production in Cyprus.

With lots of traditional music, bouzouki, dancing and of course copious amounts of Cypriot food and wine, firework displays,  singing and the traditional treading of the grapes.

The location for the Limassol Wine Festival  is in Limassol Municipal Gardens on the sea-front near the old town of Limassol.

This is one of the largest annual festivals in Cyprus and the focuses is on Greek music, dancing, food  and the wine of the Gods.

Dionysus the god of wine would surely approve of this amazing annual event which has grown into an international festival attracting thousands of people every year.

On entering the festival from the south-side you are greeted with fountains and music and the huge statue of the famous ‘Vraka Man’ in traditional dress welcoming all to the festival.

cyprussaladStalls and taverna-style eateries overflow with traditional Cypriot food and FREE wine throughout the festival (entrance fee covers this).

You can enjoy a variety of delicious   local food at amazing prices under the trees in this very romantic setting close to the Mediterranean sea.

Limassol Wine Festival  ~  Dancing, Singing and Bazouki!

If you like bozouki the excellent ‘Rembetika Parea’ group can be enjoyed under the Vraka Man on certain evenings at 9.00pm. Other entertainment includes wine songs and dancing,  satirical plays, shadow theater (Karagiozis) and puppet shows.

East of the Municipal Garden Theatre (Pavlides ground) is offered by the Limassol Municipalty for free.
