Petrus: Tasting & Drinking
Sadly I have to confess that the hapless suitor that featured in my introduction to this profile really was a friend, and was not me as some may have suspected. No prospective father-in-law has (or ever will) pour me a glass of Petrus. Château Barreyres was always more my kind of level. And like many others my early experiences of Petrus were at best vicarious, more realistically perhaps merely imaginary. It was a wine that I knew by reputation rather than by true tasting experience.
