Le Pin: Tasting & Drinking

Le Pin is undoubtedly one of the most famous names in Pomerol, enjoying a renown to match that of Petrus, despite the fact that this little estate did not exist in the minds of wine drinkers prior to the 1979 vintage. Indeed, even then, the wine took quite a few years to catch on; its journey from unknown and easily overlooked domaine to a position on the very top tier of this appellation, indeed the top tier of all Bordeaux, has been a surprisingly gradual one. Some commentators quickly recognised its potential, whereas others were much slower to come around to its charms.
